In Sept 2019 the Telford and Wrekin Interfaith Council (TWIC) held its first official meeting hosted by the West Mercia Police at the Malinsgate Police station in Telford. At that meeting, Cllr Rajash Mehta was unanimously appointed Chair of the newly set up Interfaith Council. The name was agreed as the “Telford and Wrekin Interfaith Council”. The TWIC was constituted as a charitable community group on the 23rd of April 2020 and was approved as an official charity by the Charity Commission in July 2021. The Telford and Wrekin Interfaith Council work across multiple faiths and cultures to bring peace, cooperation, and unity. Working with the Police, the T&W Council, Fire Service, Health Services, and all faith, non-faith, cultural, and community groups the TWIC have been able to quickly bring together like-minded organisations who wish to make the Borough a better, safer, and more inclusive place to live. The TWIC mantra is Unity in the Community and aims to work with and support all residents within the Borough of Telford and Wrekin and bring together all the voices of their diverse community so that everyone feels included.
