Memorandum of Understanding

The Memorandum of Understanding is a living agreement between Telford & Wrekin Interfaith Council and the organisations that take part in its work. It describes the shared purpose, the way decisions are made and the principles that keep the Council inclusive and independent.

Purpose

The Council exists to promote friendship, cooperation and inclusion between faith, cultural and community groups in Telford & Wrekin, and to work with local services and organisations for the benefit of all residents.

Principles

• The Council is open to all faiths, cultures and communities in Telford & Wrekin.
• Member organisations retain their own identity, traditions and independence.
• The Council works for the benefit of all residents, regardless of belief or background.
• Decisions are made cooperatively, with respect for different perspectives.
• The Council seeks to build friendship, understanding and practical support across the borough.

Status

The Council's constitution and governance arrangements were approved in July 2021. The Memorandum of Understanding remains in place to guide relationships between the Council, its members and its partners.
