Interfaith Community Basketball
A community initiative rather than a conventional basketball club: sessions are non-competitive and open to people of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds.
A different kind of session
Interfaith Community Basketball was created to give residents a straightforward reason to meet one another. There are no league tables, no trials and no expectation of experience. Participation is mixed and the emphasis is on fitness, friendship and enjoying the game together.
The initiative received the Mayor's Building Bridges Award for providing a service that breaks down barriers in Telford & Wrekin. Following the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Sport England donated up to two dozen basketballs and other equipment, together with a plaque confirming its support.
Who can take part
Sessions are open to anyone in the borough. You do not need to belong to a faith community, to be a member of another organisation, or to have played before.
